Finding Peace in a World Full of Chaos

Trying to escape the pressure, you turn to social media. Maybe you’re hoping for a laugh or a chance to catch up with old friends. Instead, you find yourself comparing your life to others. You scroll a little further and see divisive political propaganda causing more anxiety, more fear, more tension. You scroll down a little more and then come rumors of war, and fear begins to grip your heart,

You start asking yourself: What is going on!?!

You keep scrolling.

You see stories of senseless violence, families torn apart, tragedies unfolding in everyday places like buses, streets, and schools. A feeling of hopelessness begins to try to settle in. As you look at the state of the world and begin to wonder how things got so dark. The weight of it all presses down, and a thought rises up:

“God, we need a savior.”

And then you remember, WE HAVE ONE!

This is the harsh reality many of us are facing living in a world filled with chaos, drama, pain, anxiety, etc. At times, it can truly feel like everything is on fire. In those moments, we must pause, take a breath, and remember that we are not without hope.

We have a Savior!

In John 16:33, Jesus reassures His followers by saying, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” He never promised us a perfect life or a life free from difficulties. Instead, He gave us a greater hope: that He has already overcome the world. Through His victory, He has defeated the power of sin, death, and everything this fallen world can ultimately hold against us.

Because of that, there is no challenge we cannot face when we place our faith in Christ Jesus and shift our focus away from the temporary things of this world and onto Him. This does not mean our struggles disappear, but it does mean we can face them with confidence because Christ has already won the ultimate victory.

However, to live this way, we must operate in faith. Hebrews 11:1 tells us, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Even when everything around us seems bleak, we are called to anchor our daily decisions and prayers in God’s promises rather than in our immediate, visible circumstances. As we trust His Word above what we see, our faith grows stronger, and we are reminded that our hope rests not in this world, but in Christ, who has overcome it.

And honestly, this is something God is currently teaching me in my own life.

I’m learning that it’s one thing to talk about having faith when everything is going well, but it’s another thing to actually live by faith when life feels uncertain. God has been showing me how easily I can allow what I see around me to determine how I feel on the inside. When I constantly focus on the news, the economy, my circumstances, or everything that could go wrong, it becomes easy to lose my peace.

But God is teaching me to look up instead of constantly looking around.

He’s reminding me that peace doesn’t come from having all the answers or knowing exactly how everything will work out. True peace comes from knowing Who holds my future.

I still have moments when I worry or become overwhelmed, but I’m learning to bring those things to God instead of allowing them to control me. I’m learning to pray before I panic, worship before I worry, and open God’s Word before I open social media.

Most importantly, I’m learning that faith isn’t pretending everything is okay. Faith is trusting God even when everything doesn’t look okay.

The world may be chaotic, but God is still God. The future may be uncertain, but God already knows what tomorrow holds. And even when I don’t understand what He’s doing, I can trust who He is.

That’s the peace God is teaching me to walk in, not a life without problems, but a life where I don’t have to face those problems alone.
